A pilot service
Open2Build is in an early pilot. Features may change, and things may occasionally not work as expected. It is free to use during the pilot.
What Open2Build does and does not do
- We use AI to analyse ideas and suggest the roles a project may need. This is a starting point, not professional, legal or financial advice.
- We suggest people who may be able to help. We do not vet, employ or vouch for anyone, and we are not part of any agreement you make with someone you meet here.
- Do your own checks before sharing confidential information, money or ownership with anyone.
Your responsibilities
- Be honest about who you are, your experience and your idea.
- Only share information you are allowed to share. Ask people before introducing them or sharing their details.
- Do not post confidential information on a public project page.
- In the feed, post only what you are happy for every member to see, and only photos you took or have the right to share. Do not post other people's personal details, confidential ideas, adverts unrelated to building something, or anything offensive.
- Do not send spam, harass anyone, copy other people's ideas or content, or collect data from the site automatically.
- Keep other people's ideas confidential, as described below.
Keeping other people's ideas confidential
Everyone who uses Open2Build makes this promise to everyone else who uses it:
- If someone shares information about their idea or project with you through Open2Build, or in a conversation that started here, and it is not on a public page or otherwise public, you will keep it confidential.
- You will only use it to decide whether and how to help, and to help if you agree to. You will not copy the idea, pass it on, or use it for yourself or anyone else.
- This does not cover what was already public, what you already knew, or what you work out on your own.
A founder can also ask people to accept a separate confidentiality agreement for their project before replying. That agreement is between the founder and the person who accepts it; we show the wording and keep a record of who accepted it and when. Neither this promise nor that agreement replaces your own care: do not share anything you cannot afford to have passed on, and never put confidential information on a public project page. Your content
Your ideas, profile and messages stay yours. You give us permission to store and show them as the service needs, for example showing a published project page. You choose what is public, and you can delete your content at any time.
Removing content and accounts
We may hide or remove content, stop someone posting, or close an account, if it breaks these terms or puts others at risk. Members can report posts, comments, messages, coffee requests and other members, and the Open2Build team reviews every report.
When we remove something you wrote, we tell you which rule it broke and you get a mark. Marks last 12 months. With three marks, your account is paused for 14 days: you can still sign in, see your things and download your data, but not post or contact members. Further marks after a pause may lead to another pause or a block. Threats, harassment, scams, and sexual or violent content can lead to a block straight away. You can appeal each decision once from Marks and appeals on your profile; where possible, someone who didn't make the decision reviews it, and we reply within 7 days.
Liability
We provide Open2Build as it is, and we are not responsible for what happens between people who meet through it. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law. [Have this section reviewed.]
Changes and law
